The environmental impact assessment of government policies as an extension of the EIA of development projects and plans. Environmental policy and law. Relating legal instruments and the legal process to the science of environmental management.

Projects

1. The environmental impact assessment of government policies as an extension of the EIA of development projects and plans has been discussed a lot in the literature, but rarely tried in practice. One of the reasons is a lack of understanding as to how to assess a proposed policy. Several possible methods exist, e.g. scenarios, multicriteria analysis, soe reports, budgetary analysis, regulatory impact statements. A selection of methods could be explored to determine their suitability for application in Australia.

2. One of the cutting edges in environmental policy and law is to relate legal instruments and the legal process to the science of environmental management. Several projects in this general area are possible.
