Master of Agricultural Biotechnology

Course Code: M1158

This course is designed to provide advanced training in the use of recent technological developments in agricultural biotechnology. The major topics covered include molecular mapping for diagnostics, high-throughput genetic analysis and proteomics. A research project provides students with the opportunity to develop and apply acquired skills in areas such as plant breeding, crop protection, animal production and pathogen and disease diagnostics.

Employment Prospects:The major employers of graduates of this course are expected to be CSIRO, State Agriculture Departments and universities, as well as private sector companies such as Wesfarmers, Grain Biotech Australia, CBH and CSBP. It is anticipated that graduates will be employed as advisors in research, management, sales and marketing, diagnostics and the food industry. International students are likely to find equivalent opportunities in their home country.
